What is a URL?
URL stands for uniform resource locator and that makes perfect sense if you think in internet terms. You are wanting to locate a resource and we need a uniform way to do it! When your site is put on the internet, it's assigned a home on a server with an IP address such as 67.19.218.227.

Rather than having your site accessable using an ugly address such as "67.19.218.227/~mysite/", the URL instructs the browser to access your site by your domain or subdomain such as "lintbox.net". The site address is not only easier to remember, but it also looks more professional.
